Design Thinking
I spent a year as the lead visual designer for a modern costing and pricing application. The tool is in development and upon release will improve the work experience of the services pricing community at a major global corporation.
I jump-started the Design Thinking effort on the cross-functional team, hosting workshops and brainstorming sessions to align us to one core mission: making work better for the services pricing community. In addition to advocating for Agile methodologies and leading with design, I put those beliefs into practice through my work on the application.
Throughout the design process, I collaborated with the team’s user experience designer to produce effective designs based on stakeholder priorities, input from our subject matter experts, and a constant flow of user feedback. I ensured the designs adhered to the company’s design system and facilitated the handoff to development. Additionally, I implemented a system for quality assurance and other processes that maintained an active line of communication with the development team and fostered alignment.
I have also taken responsibility for the promotional communication strategy. Using the company’s brand guidelines, I designed an app icon and branding style that are utilized on the application’s website. I also created a promotional video to spread the word about the new tool.
The video was my favorite project so far–I facilitated a brainstorming session to understand the message we wanted to send with it, then wrote a script and mapped out a storyboard. After a few iterations of each, I dove into the animation. The video garnered excitement for the app’s release and boosted traffic to the website.
